Support Los Altos Restaurants

Image

Our board members have tried some of our local establishments while practicing social distancing and here is a small sampling of what we have tried.

We encourage everyone to support all of our Los Altos and area restaurants and report back to the board with your suggestions!

  • The Post Restaurant on Main Street – utilizing the newly constructed parklet and space heaters, it has many tables and takes reservations.
  • The Rustic House on Main Street – sectioning off the street parking spots with wine barrels and heaters, it too has many tables and is readily available.
  • Dinah’s Poolside Restaurant – utilizes the pool area for social distancing with many tables.
  • Courtyard Marriot – has expanded its outdoor patios; it’s a lovely place to try with good social distancing

Los Altos History Museum has openings for docents

Image
“The Los Altos History Museum explores the rich history of local people and how the use of the land over time has transformed the agricultural paradise once known as the "Valley of Heart’s Delight" into the high technology hub of today’s Silicon Valley.

The Los Altos History Museum has openings for docents and would like to talk with you! Give the Museum a call and they’ll schedule a meeting to discuss the programs. The Museum schedules one 4-hour docent work duty per month. Many other volunteer opportunities are also available.

The Assistance League of Los Altos is looking for new members

Their mission is to use funds from the Costume Bank to help operate a 42-unit apartment, Housing of Medical Emergencies.

They staff the Costume Bank (and "no" you don't need to sew...but if you can, that's a plus). Other activities include flower arranging, baking cookies & pies, and helping with ice cream socials.
Also...there are 6 per year Vintage Fashion Shows at local convalescent and/or senior centers where you could model, dress the models, be a commentator, or play the piano.

Stop by the Costume Bank at 169 State Street, Los Altos (11:00 a.m. -> 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday) or contact Jan Shideler.
